[ Little snatches of the past few days were coming to Jake in odd fits and starts now that they were back in the relative calm of station living. It's late in the evening that one such memory comes to mind; a quiet bid for forgiveness in the middle of a quiet forest.
It wasn't something Jake was strictly meant to hear, but that didn't mean it left his head so easily. ]
hey. sorry for the late night text. i know you don't really know me, but i gotta know.
you ever manage to bring those plants back with you?
[Sleep is for the weak. Also, the day time because that's how cool cats roll or something. More like the nightlife was just gangster prime time back in the red light district of Ijincho where he was king of the Liumang. He's not even remotely disturbed by the late night text. A little bit amused actually.]
Don't worry about it.
Yeah, you wanna see? Got a few I managed to hang onto. They're real cute. Tiny.
[ The sunlight room was a beautiful any time of day, but Jake liked it best in the early evening. The artificial sun was a facsimile, but a pleasant one, and as he hung from one of the trees overlooking the lake and waited for Zhao's arrival he couldn't help but think of home. ]
[Well, that's a little alarming. Zhao tries not to think about it too much as he heads towards the sunlight room. If he was lucky, he'd get to catch the act of shrinking.
He arrived a few minutes later and headed straight for the medium sized pot with the Ciraiwei. Whether Jake was in sight or not, he called out.]
[Wow, yep. That was a little freaky. But, like, in a good way. Zhao leaned forward a bit to peer down at Jake. It was pretty amazing.]
How do you do that?
[It sort of just came out of his mouth before he realized how stupid a question it was. But Zhao also didn't have a shameful bone in his body so he mentally shrugged it off and smirked down at Jake as if he'd said a perfectly acceptable thing.]
It's pretty cool. Useful, I bet.
[Definitely so if Jake was going to help him care for the tiny plants. Definitely cool and useful.]
All right, all right. You'll have to regale me later then.
[Zhao's eyes widen slightly as he watched, his poker face crumbling just a little at the sight. That was so cool.
He smiled and shrugged.]
Like you said, gardening. It's real hard for me at this size. I gotta use tweezers for any delicate work. [He paused for a second before continuing.] I'd like to arrange them better, make sure they're all getting what they need, and all pruned properly. Though at this stage we mostly just need to plant them good and let them grow.

[He's seen the bus. He's not seen the opposite yet. How exciting!]
Where am I at or where are the plants at? Because I'm nowhere special, but I can meet you in the sunlight room if you want.
["Nowhere special" he says--liar. He was at Kaidan's favorite view-port, but that was a story for another time.]

Hey! Down here, pal!
[ Sure enough, there was Jake, lounging against the pot and awaiting his arrival. ]

[ Jake stretches larger, his voice getting easier to understand as a result. ]
And you can keep the compliment train rolling, I'm not gonna stop you. [ Really, he won't. Unfortunately. ] But tell me what we're doing here first.
